What is Habitat Restoration?
Since 1977, volunteers have proven that habitat restoration works. We cut out invasive plants that block the sun and kill ecosystems. We carefully collect precious seeds by hand where there’s more than enough to share. We spread seeds to their new homes where plants will flourish and create special habitats for wildlife. We use the most up to date scientific methods to ensure we are helping nature. We monitor wildlife and plants that bounce back from the brink and thrive where we work.
There are many opportunities to restore habitat to help nature with your own hands. Explore the Nature Conservancy’s Illinois Volunteer Stewardship opportunities to find active volunteer groups near you.
